NIKE 718s
In 2019 I was chosen to design my own Nike sneakers in
collaboration with Nike and the organization Cultivator. The project focused on New York City creatives and called to highlight what their inspirations were. My sneakers, the 718s, we’re inspired by the Bronx, my home; its people, and the preservation of its culture and history. I chose to do it in the Bronx to bring awareness to the many changes the Bronx is going through and the rise of gentrification. I dedicated these sneakers to my home to shed light on the changing landscape that is being developed in my neighborhood and the importance of persevering in our home and standing up for what’s ours.

CITYSTUFF
For my Fall 2019 Design Studio class, we were asked to develop our own business; for this business, we had to create the logo, aesthetics, and products, while also taking into account who will be our customers, niche, etc. I did my business based on New York City culture and objects. The first project I created for my business was a handbag collection created with metro cards and for the second project, I designed and created a cosmetic line inspired by NYC signage and logos. My business was created for those who love NYC and also for the preservation of the old NYC that is changing everyday.

YIELD NOT TO MISFORTUNES
In 2019 I created my own photo book for my Photo Concepts: Poetics class. I had to create the book by hand and so I chose to bind it using the Japanese stab binding technique and using different kinds of papers and my own handwringing to make it. The subject of my photo book was the Bronx; within the book, I highlighted and showcased photos with subjects such as Bronx youth, small businesses, women, and graffiti. Each topic also had my own free thoughts and poetry attached to it.
